The daughter of a woman accused of securing the recreational drug that killed a Suttons Bay man is back behind bars.
Grant pleads to probation violations
86th District Court
Andrew P. McCarthy, 50, of 1922 E. Darga Rd., Cedar — Sentenced to three additional days in jail after pleading guilty to a bond violation.
Susan M. Shields, 63, of 1042 W. Harbor Hwy., Maple City — Pleaded guilty to lying to a peace officer during an investigation; bond continued; to be sentenced Dec. 18.
Judges honored, Cooney sworn
Leelanau County and local court officials celebrated the 50th anniversary of District Courts in the State of Michigan during a gathering Tuesday afternoon at the county courthouse.
Also Tuesday afternoon at the courthouse, the 86th District Court’s newest judge, Robert Cooney, was administered the oath of office by Leelanau County Clerk Michelle Crocker.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 with the Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Church of Cedar. The mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Holy Rosary
