Having observed Julie and her opponent Melinda Lautner at many public forums and meetings, I feel confident that Julie has clear intentions of serving community over serving one’s self.

What are we to become as human beings and as a nation? My parents strived to teach me right from wrong and to take responsibility for what I said and did. For the most part they succeeded. At least to the point I feel remorse and quiet if I didn’t.

Very interesting: Leelanau County is one of 83 counties in Michigan and has been one of, if not the best run, fiscally responsible and well funded county.
It has less overall debt than most others. It might even have the lowest debt of all the other counties in Michigan.

In response to reader Rick Deering’s letter, the only real connection between the Statue of Liberty and the Northport Millpond is the color green; the green patina of our Lady Liberty and the green algae that chokes the impounded Northport Creek.

I served as 86th District Court Judge in Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties for many years. As a prosecutor, Bob Cooney argued cases in my courtroom on an regular basis.
Bob is quietly competent and selfconfident. Bob is honest, knows the law, is fair minded, and treats everyone with respect.

A major mission of the League of Women Voters is voter education. To that end the League of Women Voters Leelanau County conducted four candidate forums that attracted over 200 attendees. These events required a lot of effort and it is time to say thank you.

In addition, he is patient and compassionate. A solver of problems as he has proven in his past work and life experiences.
