“Winter,” the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s first exhibition of 2019, will open with a reception Friday, Jan. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Winter” is a juried exhibition which will run through Feb. 28.
Missed votes in Lansing total 3,461, VanderWall misses just one roll call
Michigan’s 38 senators and 110 representatives missed 1,671 roll call voted in 2018, according to the Missed Votes Report compiled by Jack McHugh, editor of Michiganvotes.org.
For the full two years of the 99th Michigan Legislature (2017-18), the missed votes total was 3,461.
Leland grad wed at Village Green
Abigail Elizabeth Raguse and Justin McLean Fogarty were united in marriage on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Leland Village Green.
The bride is the daughter of Susan and Douglas Raguse of Cedar. She is a graduate of Leland High School, Michigan Technological University, and completed a post graduate cytology technical program at Cabell Huntington (W. Va.) Hospital.
Burr/ Paulsen nuptials announced
Madeline Campbell Burr, daughter of Peter Shepard Burr II and Alice McCracken Burr of Chevy Chase, Md. and Leland, was married Dec. 22 in Washington, D.C.

Man arrested after rollover accident
A 38-year-old Honor man was arrested Friday night after a one-car crash in Empire Township.
Glen Lake Fire and Leelanau County deputies responded to W. Glenmere Road near Benzonia Trail shortly after 10 p.m. on a report of a rollover accident.
Elmwood improves ISO rating
Property owners in Elmwood Township may end up paying a little less for fire insurance on their homes and businesses in 2019 – and residents may also have a better chance of surviving a heart attack.

Kromkowski takes seat on bench
Leelanau County’s new Probate and Family Court Judge, Marian Kromkowski, was sworn into office Thursday in the presence of dozens of court officials, friends and family members.
Judge Kromkowski replaces Judge Larry Nelson who has served since 2010. Nelson did not run for reelection because he has reached an age limit for the post.
