We’ve learned of three questionable activities during or leading up to public meetings. The Enterprise joins other newspapers as being hypersensitive toward ensuring public access to its government’s business as well as opportunities to participate.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be elected at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 for James Arthur Meyer of Bingham Township who died Oct. 18.

He was 84.

Jim served our country in the U.S. Army and earned his accounting degree from the University of Detroit, earning the designation of certified public accountant.

A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. today at West Side Community Church for Anthony D. Case of Maple City who died Nov. 2.

He was 20.

Anthony was born March 12, 1998 at Munson Medical Center. He graduated from Glen Lake High School, where he played football and was involved in 4-H for many years.

Karla Kay (Case) Wood

Karla Kay (Case) Woods of Lake Leelanau died Nov. 2 after a short illness.

She was 76.

Karla was born to the late Guy and Myrtle Case in Traverse City. She was raised on her family’s cherry farm on the Old Mission Peninsula, graduating from Central High School in 1959.

In 1961, she married Thomas D. Woods and was a proud military wife and mother.

G-L graduate dies in high-speed crash

Such is the case in the Maple City where one family is grieving the death of a son; and another has a son in jail facing serious criminal charges.

Anthony Case, 20, was killed Friday in Traverse City, when the car in which he was riding, was involved in a high speed chase, resulting in a crash.

100th anniversary of Armistice Day marked

A cold, snowy Veterans Day again this year saw about 100 people taking shelter in the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Lake Leelanau on Sunday for the annual observance at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

That was when an Armistice was signed, ending World War I, exactly 100 years ago. Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all U.S. military veterans.

Donations sought for senior gift bags

Leelanau County Senior Services are collecting items for its “Comfort and Joy” holiday bags to be distribute to seniors next month.

Needed items include non-perishable food, toiletries, and miscellaneous fun items to fill the bags.

Monetary gifts are also greatly appreciated and will be used to purchase gift certificates to local grocery stores.
