    In spite of some chilly weather, the Sixth Annual Leelanau Uncaged was another huge success. The temperature didn’t get out of the 50’s, but there was — for the sixth year in a row — no rain. There was a great turn-out for the event. It looked like all of us got our winter coats out a little earlier than usual.

    A Northport area couple awoke Friday morning to find a male intruder in their home.

    The 911 Dispatch Center received a call at 5:10 a.m. from a man who stated he had just been awaken by someone entering his home.

    The 55-year-old homeowner stated he was startled upon hearing his dog barking and wife yelling. He found a male suspect inside their home on the main floor.

    Leelanau County will hire a second consultant to assist the county’s Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.

    At its rescheduled monthly executive meeting Tuesday morning, the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners voted 7-0 to hire Greg McMorrow of Omena to assist the coalition through April 2019 for $5,000.
